my best line

still tapping away, trying to get this sermon sorted, but i thought i'd share my best line so far:
i'm trying to explain the harshness of the examples jude uses from the OT, 1Enoch, the Assumption of Moses (a non-extant text - we have the rest), in terms that we might understand today.
... it's like saying, "these turkeys are as useless as wet toilet-paper, as destructive as the asian tsunami, as untrustworthy as paedophiles, and as mentally unstable as britney spears."

Its a bit packed. You'd want to pause after each description.

hahahaa.
great.

unless the use you had for the wet toilet paper was to be annoying and chuck it onto the ceiling in the bathroom.... i NEVER understood why people did that.

coz it's funny?

yeah, i got a couple of chuckles. tried to balance the light with dark.

The whole thing felt dark, not my normal jokey self, but in the end i found it really reassuring, especially remembering the sure hope we have, knowing who calls, loves and keeps us.

(i think i finally worked out who you are btw!)

Well preached yesterday Doug (x3)!

You should post something about the extra-biblical material cited in Jude (1 Enoch / Assumption of Moses), the "walk-talk-judgement" description of the false teachers, as well as a full outline of the 18 plus triplet-lists you found in Jude ... when you get the chance of course ...
