firstly: the new-look wild street church website is up! check it out on the sidebar.
secondly: next year the wild street bible institute is underway, and i am still thinking through possible topics. the format is to be (i'm thinking) 45 min talk, 45 min small group discussion. to be held monthly.
topics thus far are:
- Carthage (the church of martyrs)
Alexandria (allegory)
Athens (historico-contextual method)
Rome (church governance/leadership)
Constantinople (esp 381 and trinitarian controversy)
Sin - the nature of the atonement
Source Criticism
got any suggestions as regards format of the time, other possible subjects?
any appreciated!

Hey, can you tell us more about the WSBI? What are its aims? How does it fit into the rest of the teaching program at Wild St? etc.
thanks byron
the original thought was for it to be a place for people to take their thinking further than bible studies or sermons permit. often issues are brought up that ask for some deeper nutting-out, which doesn't quite fit in with expository preaching or bible studies.
so i guess systematics? the thing with the churches is as a launching pad into systematics (ie Constantinople - Trinity, Carthage - Baptism etc)
it is supplementary. stuff that a lot of people just aren't interested in, their eyes glaze over. yet there are others who are really excited when something like pre-destination comes up in a talk or study, but they don't really know how to engage with the question and sort it out.
so something like the CCT lectures, maybe a little more accessible, and more participatory.
whaddya think?
woah... you look like you're gonna have a lot of work on your hands
doing one topic in strand 3 was hard enough!!! i guess you probably have had lots of practice
